Welcome to our classroom!

A positive learning climate in a school for young children is a composite of many things.  It is an attitude that respects children.  It is a place where children receive guidance and encouragement from the responsible adults around them.  It is an environment where children can experiment and try out new ideas without fear or failure.  It is an atmosphere that builds children’s self-confidence so they dare to take risks.  It is an environment that nurtures a love of learning.
~Carol B. Hillman (20th Century), U.S. early childhood educator.

About Us

Wanda Matt

I graduated in 1993 from Black Hills State University with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education. In 2003,   I graduated from Marshall University with my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. This will be my 23rd year working in education. I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, Third grade, Fourth grade, Eighth Grade and High School.

I am married to a geologist and have 2 adorable cats. My teaching philosophy is student-centered and I believe in providing students with many hands-on, challenging and exploratory experiences.  Such experiences will be informative as well as enjoyable for the students.  My goal is to use a variety of teaching strategies that will tend to all learning styles throughout the school year.  I hope for this year to be a great learning experience for your child!
